The Key? Help Them Choose.
Imagine if we could get students to drop their masks
and talk honestly about their bullying and harassment.
Imagine if the person targeted could find the courage
to finally speak up... and be a "victim" no more.
Imagine if the bystander: the teacher, the friend, the parent,
felt like they actually had the tools to help.
Imagine if the person who aggressed took responsibility,
apologized, and stopped bullying altogether.
Imagine if these actions led to solutions that actually worked.
It can.

services:
Kathleen specializes in getting to the root of a bullying relationship and helping all parties resolve the issue so it does not continue. Her main strategy is called the Third Way. It empowers all parties to stop choosing silence or violence as solutions, and opens them up to see a third way: problem solving. Through the process, students will learn tools to resolve their issues more productively in the future.
Kathleen can be hired to:
- Coach students and adults through complex bullying situations.
- Train staff, pre-service teachers, administrators, social workers on her methods.
- Speak at student conferences, assemblies, PA Days, and Parent Education nights.
- Consult with administrators and school boards on bullying and harassment protocols and methods.
Testimonial:"I have attended teaching conferences for 30 years and I have never enjoyed a session more let alone two! The profound way she eloquently expressed her thoughts about working with students who have been bullied or those who may be the bully was truly inspiring." M. Severson

Philosophy:
Kathleen has been exploring the topics of bullying and aggression in schools and outdoor education settings for 15 years. Regardless of the setting, the socioeconomic background, or age of the student she has found one similar theme: if we let students drive the problem solving process, their solutions work. Bullying ends.
Why? It's this simple: students who are being bullied, and students who bully are lacking conflict management skills. If we can help them find their "strong voice" - a voice that helps them to stand tall and speak confidently - bullying cycles end.
Kathleen's methods are replicable for elementary, secondary, and college/university level students.
